Two Ways We Support Your Child’s Communication

Every child is unique, and the support they need should be, too. At Parental Guidance Speech Interventions, we offer two distinct paths to help your child find their voice. While they serve different purposes, many families see the best results by using both.

1. Medical Speech Therapy (Insurance Eligible)

This is traditional, one-on-one therapy provided by a licensed professional to treat diagnosed communication disorders.

  • Best if your child: struggles with speech sounds, stutters, has limited language, or needs a formal diagnosis for school or medical records.
  • The focus: Direct treatment with measurable goals and clinical progress tracking.
  • Your role: Supporting your child’s new skills with carryover at home.

Therapy helps your child practice skills; coaching teaches you how to help those skills grow all day long.

2. Parent Communication Coaching (Not Insurance Billable)

This is a parent-led model where you learn specific strategies to spark communication during your normal daily routines.

Best if your child: is hard to understand, struggles to express needs, or makes progress in therapy but not at home.

  • The focus: Play-based coaching that teaches you exactly how to respond during mealtime, bath time, and play.
  • Your role: You are the intervention—learning to help your child communicate throughout the week.

The Power of the Combo

Many families choose both because therapy treats the skill, while coaching makes the skill stick. We can recommend a combination plan to create a supportive environment that speeds up your child's progress.
